Guide to Connecting Waterproof/Dustproof Sensor(s) to Host(s) (USB/LAN)
Overview
Design support information for setting up measurement systems is provided. A waterproof and dustproof type sensor is connected to the converter via an RS422 communication cable.
This article introduces how to connect the sensor with a host device in the following cases:
- One sensor via USB
- Multiple sensors via USB
- Multiple sensors via LAN.
Please check the specification of the converter to check which host device can be connected.
Connection configuration example
How to connect one sensor via USB
Use an RS422 communication cable (KD-002-XXX *XXX is the cable length) to connect one acceleration sensor/vibration sensor to a StarTech RS422-USB converter. The converter connects to the host (computer, etc.) via USB. An AC adapter is also required for operation.
How to connect multiple sensors via USB
The configuration mentioned above (How to connect one sensor via USB ) allows for the connection of multiple sensors by preparing multiple 3Gb/s connections. Alternatively, a hub can be used. By using an RS422 communication cable (KD-001-XXX, *XXX means the cable length), multiple acceleration and vibration sensors can be connected to a StarTech RS422-USB conversion hub. The conversion hub connects to the host (e.g., computer) via USB. An AC adapter is also required for operation.
How to connect via LAN
Use an RS422 communication cable (KD-001-XXX, KD-003-XXX *XXX means the cable length) to connect the acceleration sensor and vibration sensor to a LINE-EYE RS422-LAN converter. The converter connects to the host side (computer, etc.) via LAN. An AC adapter is also required for operation.
